These are the steps to take to safely insert infant suppositories to treat constipation quickly in infants 0-12 months of age.
Simple steps you can follow at home if you notice that your child needs immediate relief from constipation.
Image of Correct Suppository to use for infants is below, because there are other ones for children 1years of age and older. Do not use the one for older children, as the dose will be too strong.
Step 1. Wash your Hands.
Step 2. Wear Gloves
Step 3. Check to see if suppository is hard, if not put in refrigerator for a few minutes to make it cold and firm.
Step 4. Positioning your baby: Place baby on side with bottom leg straight and top leg bent halfway. You can also place baby on back and hold legs upwards in bent position. See pic below to get an idea of positioning.
